Dr. Caroline Sobota
Education Co-Chair
Judy Murray
Grant Chair
Eleven years ago two dear friends, both breast cancer survivors, asked Judy if she would help them to bring the Race for the Cure® to Boise. How could she say no? What began as a dream quickly became a passion.

Having been involved in breast cancer detection most of her professional career, Judy had witnessed both the devastation and cure of the disease. The very possibility of “eradicating breast cancer forever” became compelling. If we could only save one woman’s life it would be worth it. Soon she realized one is not enough, our fight is to save them all.

Judy has had the honor of being active in the Boise Komen Affiliate since it’s inception. Every success story solidifies her unwavering devotion.

As a happily retired woman, Judy spends part of the year in the Bahamas with her husband, saltwater fly fishing for the elusive bone fish. While in Boise, they enjoy their family, friends, horses and dogs.
John Walker
Director at Large
John, his wife Amy, and their daughter Samantha relocated to the Boise area in 2005. Prior to moving to Idaho, he spent well over a decade working for the biotechnology company Amgen. With expertise in sales, marketing and strategic planning, his experience was primarily dedicated to oncology with many initiatives specifically focused on breast cancer. First consulting in the Treasure Valley, John then became Director of Corporate Wellness for St. Luke’s Health System in 2007 and was energized by its mission to improve the health of people through corporate wellness and prevention programs.

Shortly into John’s tenure at St. Luke’s, Amy, just 37 years old, was diagnosed with breast cancer. They had just celebrated Samantha’s 2nd birthday. Leaving St. Luke’s in 2009, he would continue to serve those impacted by cancer. He often reflects on the life changing journey, walking as a family through the numbing yet emotional experiences of detection, diagnosis, mastectomies, chemotherapy, and reconstruction suffered by his beloved wife. “We lived it; Amy’s a proud survivor” says John. “It’s an honor to serve a world class organization whose mission is dedicated to the cure and support of breast cancer patients. There’s nothing more fulfilling than having an opportunity to make a difference to those affected by this pervasive disease.”

John created, and currently counsels healthcare related enterprises through HealthMatrixx Consulting, LLC. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Walker Center, a drug and alcohol treatment provider in Gooding, Idaho, and is an Advisory Board Member for the Three Oaks Academy of Integrative Therapies and Healing Arts.
